Hi, I’m Conor Kelly. At the beginning of 2022, I made a resolution to myself to take up sea swimming. Nearly six months in and I am fascinated by the abundance of benefits and happiness the sea can bring to an individual person. Once I had taken the plunge and began consistently going for sea swims, I started to notice the benefits it had on me personally.
The cold water sea swims have enabled my mind to develop a sense of stillness. Given the faced-paced society we live in today, I find that taking time out in the sea, practising a sense of stillness, helps clear the mind and reduce anxiety or stress.
I am someone who enjoys exercise, however, by implementing sea swims into my fitness programmes, I feel it helps with recovery as it enables my muscles to destress and relax. It creates a sense of rejuvenation in the body.
Love for Nature
When submerged in the sea, I cannot help but develop a deep appreciation and gratitude for the sea and its marine life. It definitely helps to ground you as a person and feel “at one with nature”.
So don’t just take my word for it, take the plunge and go for a dip. You’ll not regret it.
